Can we be real for a moment? Most couples pretend they have a perfect marriage, especially nowadays, with all the hype of ideal couples circulating on social media. Consequently, many display the "highlight reel" of their relationship to the public. But secretly, they are broken on the inside amongst themselves. In fact, many couples deal with the pain of past trauma and rejection while also struggling with addictions and other strongholds.
Contrary to popular belief, perfect marriages don't exist. However, imperfect people that God has perfected for each other do exist.
Aside from misconceptions, I'm not suggesting that imperfections equal no love. That is not the case! I'm sure many couples genuinely love each other. However, they fail to be authentic about the challenges all couples encounter and overcome behind the scenes in their marriage.
Frankly speaking, sometimes you and your spouse or significant other will not see eye to eye and may potentially view each other as "enemies." This seeming contradiction happens when trials and tribulations take root within your relationship and blame is assigned to each other. But there is a perfect God who cares and is waiting to hear from you!
Then shalt thou call, and the Lord shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity;

Consequently, during these times of confusion, always rely on God's Word for wisdom and guidance. Luke 6:27 releases us from the lies of satan to be harsh or vindictive toward our spouse. Yes...even during moments of uneasiness, we are called to honor and respect each other.
