This study aims to characterize lettuce grown in open fields in terms of development and growth (elongation and weight), to determine the number of days required to reach harvest, and to analyze how different varieties affect yields. The study was conducted at Agroland-Tunisie, located in the Sbikha region, and focused on 10 varieties (Romaine, Oak Leaf, Lollo Rossa, Tango R, Batavia, Tango B, Barcelona, Mizuna, Red Chard Magenta, Island) in open fields under the same cultivation type and conditions in order to identify suitable parent lines that could enrich our genetic resources. Morphological and physiological parameters were measured, allowing for the evaluation of the growth rate of aboveground parts and roots, as well as the crop's response to different harvest times. The results confirmed that the Tango B, Island, and Red Chard Magenta varieties outperformed the others. However, it was noted that the average number of harvests and the average number of days to reach harvest have an effect on yields.
