Beyond Code follows Vega and Corvus, two engineering squads at a billing company called Lumen, through everything that happens to software after the code is written - and shows why that "everything" is the real job.

Writing code is the part we're taught. It's also about a third of what it takes to ship software people can depend on. The rest has unglamorous names: version control, testing, continuous integration, delivery, observability, reliability, security, and the culture that holds it together.
