BLACK WOMAN is a poetic celebration, love letter, reflection, and reckoning dedicated to the beauty, strength, vulnerability, resilience, and undeniable power of Black women.

Through love, loss, intimacy, heartbreak, grief, social injustice, and self-reflection, L.J. Hamilton explores the many ways Black women are seen, desired, misunderstood, wounded, celebrated, and loved. From honoring the memory of his beloved sister to confronting the pain inflicted upon Black women by society and the men who should protect them, these poems move unapologetically between tenderness and truth.

At its heart, BLACK WOMAN is an acknowledgment of the women who nurture, endure, inspire, rebuild, love, and continue to rise. It is a reminder that beneath every expectation placed upon her is a woman deserving of softness, protection, respect, passion, understanding, and a love that recognizes her worth without requiring her to prove it.
