In these modern times of energy crisis,development of more efficient and viable sources of energy and their storage has its own import.Solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs) have gained interest due to their possible use as solid state alternatives of liquid electrolytes in various electrochemical devices like batteries and photovoltaic devices. they have greater advantage over liquid electrolytes which are susceptible to leakage and evaporation leading to the decay in the cell performance. Polymeric solid electrolytes basically consist of a polymer with some inorganic salt incorporated into the matrix. Here a blend polymer of Polyethylene Glycol and Polyvinyl Pyrrolidone is prepared by solution casting method and NH4SCN salt is incorporated into the polymer matrix. The blending process done here proved to increase the conductivity.This goes to prove that blend polymer is a good candidate as electrolytes in fuel cells. Yes lets go more green!
