The history of human interaction around the globe with its extraordinary mobility, hostility, productivity and creativity has clearly been driven as much by the infringement of borders as by their maintenance. This collection of essays scrutinizes the functions of borders, demarcations and their transgression in literature and other cultural artefacts.
