El humorista gráfico Cesc se dedicó, como sus contemporáneos Sempé y Steinberg -que él reconocía como grandes influencias-, a la anotación costumbrista. Como Sempé, miró con ternura a los niños y a la gente de la calle. En especial a la gente con oficios modestos como las floristas, los peones o incluso los mendigos. Por otro lado, más crítico y en línea con Steinberg, denunció los abusos del poder, la banalidad y la preocupación por las apariencias de los ricos, y la burocracia kafkiana. Esta antología reúne los dibujos sin palabras de Cesc. Dibujos que no necesitan una explicación y que muestran por tanto su cara más directa y cercana, la que él prefería. Reivindicando a este gran dibujante como alguien que retrató con ternura algo más allá incluso de su época y su país: la sencillez de la condición humana. A pesar de los problemas que tuvo con la justicia (protagonizó dos juicios que fueron sobreseídos), con la censura y con las presiones políticas que llegaban a él a través de los editores y que provocaron que fuera "retirado" durante temporadas, mantuvo un público fiel que admiraba su capacidad poética de sintetizar ciertas ideas que no hubieran podido expresarse a través un lenguaje que no fuera el dibujo. Un dibujo amable que enmascaraba mensajes duramente críticos.
