The works assembled in Collected Staring occupy a space where writing is no longer understood as a transparent system for transmitting thought, but as a material practice shaped by habit, repetition, and visual conditioning. This collection examines what happens when those habits are interrupted.
At stake here is the relation between perception and structure: how recognition organizes the world, and how disruption reorganizes it. The pieces gathered in this volume expose the instability of systems often taken as fixed. Rather than reinforcing coherence, they test its limits.
What results is not a singular method but an ongoing inquiry into form itself. Units of inscription are subjected to pressure, displacement, fragmentation, and recombination. Through these procedures, meaning becomes provisional and contingent, while attention is redirected toward pattern, texture, interval, and rupture.
This is a poetics of disassembly-not destructive, but investigative. It asks how systems produce legibility, and what can be discovered when legibility breaks down. In that breakdown, new relations become available.
Collected Staring is, above all, a study in altered attention: an exploration of how prolonged engagement with familiar structures can estrange them, making visible what convention has taught us to overlook.
