This book contributes a critical perspective on contemporary collaborative consumption, a recent societal phenomenon shacking up previously assumed fixed socio-economic categories as the producer and consumer. From a sociological perspective we discuss in seven case studies the role of trust and reciprocity in collaborative consumption. Thereby we advance debates on contradistinctions in socio-technological change that are aiming at more sustainable development. Hence, presumably new and alternative ways of consuming are discussed, enlightening the role of trust and reciprocity for sustainable development.
