Living Flame

In 1939, a young Jewish boy in Poland is suddenly uprooted from a traditional family life that is rapidly shattered by war and persecution. Still a teenager, he is thrust into a world of ghettos, forced labor camps, and concentration camps, among them Auschwitz-Birkenau and Buchenwald, as well as a broader and continuous sequence of displacement and survival across occupied Europe.

Over the course of six years, he endures separation, loss, and conditions that challenge comprehension, moving through environments in which human life is constantly reduced to its most fragile state. His account follows not only the external journey through these places, but also the internal continuity of lived experience within them.

Living Flame is a firsthand testimony rooted in historical events, offering a direct and intimate perspective on survival during the Holocaust. Written with clarity and restraint, it does not seek to interpret or explain history, but to present it as it was experienced-inviting the reader into the immediacy of lived reality.
