Mimo Learns to Play Together
A gentle story about watching, joining, and playing your own way

Watching is playing. Playing nearby is playing.
Mimo the baby wombat is going to play by the pond - but the game is too fast and too loud. So Mimo watches first. And that is okay.
With gentle Tula the turtle and speedy Lila the bunny, Mimo discovers that playing has many shapes: watching from the tall grass, playing nearby, taking turns... and that sometimes friends can learn to slow down too. When the day gets to be too much, leaving is okay - and every brave "slow please" counts.
This warm, watercolor picture book includes:
- A gentle read-aloud story about joining in - your way
- "Mimo's Play Words" - watch, nearby, my turn, your turn, slow please, all done
- "My Playing Page" - a do-together checklist and draw-your-own-play activity
- "For Grown-Ups" - practical, pressure-free guidance for supporting cautious players
Written for sensitive, shy, and sensory-aware children ages 4-8 - and for the grown-ups who love them.
All playing is playing. Every way counts.
By Hannah Martin, edited by Aaron Lime.
