A routine drive to a rural Pennsylvania cemetery turns into a nightmare when Barbara and her brother Johnny encounter a man who should not be walking.

Barbara escapes to an isolated farmhouse, where Ben, a stranger with a truck and a ruthless instinct for survival, begins fortifying the house against the dead gathering outside. But they are not alone. Hidden in the cellar are Harry and Helen Cooper, their gravely ill daughter Karen, and young couple Tom and Judy.
