When estranged brothers Ryan and Dale Smith reunite for their father's funeral, grief forces them into the same room for the first time in four years. Their relationship is damaged, their family is fractured, and neither man expects the past to offer anything except regret. Then they discover a sealed deed hidden among their father's belongings, granting them twelve acres of forgotten waterfront property in Clinchfield, Florida.

As Founder's Day approaches, the brothers uncover a history of disappearances, ritual offerings, and a creature beneath the water known only as Old Testament. The town believes the covenant must continue. Reverend Leb believes the Smith brothers have returned to complete what their bloodline began. And the water remembers every promise their family tried to escape.

Trapped between a town desperate to preserve its salvation and an ancient force that does not forgive unpaid debts, Ryan and Dale must decide what they are willing to sacrifice for each other.
