L'exili i lÆempresonament són una constant en lÆobra de Iannis Ritsos. Repeticions aplega, per primera vegada en català, els poemes escrits durant el seu internament en el camp de concentració de Leros (1967-1968) i el seu arrest domiciliari a Karlóvassi de Samos (1968-1970), en el marc de la tristament famosa dictadura dels Coronels. Durant aquest període, Ritsos tornà a passar per lÆamarga experiència de lÆexili, ja viscuda anys abans, al final de la guerra civil grega (1948-1952), que li suposà, en aquella ocasió, la reclusió en els camps de concentració de Leros, Makrónissos i Àios Stratis. Aquest període de privació de llibertat i dÆisolament físic i moral absolut, agreujat pel càncer que se li diagnosticà durant la seva estada a Leros, lluny dÆatuir-lo, lÆesperona fins al punt que les obres escrites durant aquest temps ùque, quan no aconseguia de fer arribar clandestinament a lÆestranger, sovint enterrava per salvar-les de la fèrria censura dels Coronelsù són considerades unànimement per la crítica com els seus millors reculls.
