Rivvon and the Spirit Strays

When a scarred black dog appears at Rivvon's door during a violent storm, she believes she is rescuing another stray from the flooded streets of Portmore. But this animal is not lost. It has come searching.

Soon more creatures begin appearing across the city. A wounded seabird that refuses to leave the harbour. A rooster that screams outside the home of a grieving mother every night at midnight. A cat that waits beside abandoned buildings where terrible things once happened. Each animal carries the sorrow of someone broken by the city itself.

As the storms grow worse, Rivvon begins experiencing impossible visions hidden beneath reflections and rainfall. Ancient vevé symbols burning beneath water. Lions made of light. Forgotten souls gathering around a mysterious figure who carries mercy like a burden instead of a gift.

But Portmore is changing.

Violence spreads through Kingston. Children vanish without explanation. Entire communities begin whispering about shadows moving through floodwater after dark. Something old is waking beneath the island, feeding on grief, loneliness, and the wounds people try hardest to hide.

And somewhere between the living and the dead, ancient forces have begun to remember Rivvon's name.

For in the VevéVerse, some pain does not disappear.

It waits. It wanders.

And sometimes it returns wearing fur, feathers, and hungry eyes.
