Thousands of years ago humanity split, each group taking their idea of a perfect society to the stars. Cut off and insular, very few thrived. Others broke down and reverted to a baser time. While at least one group became... different.
After their habitation station is overrun by replicating drones Aldi and Tinker are forced to abandon the system in a stolen freighter. With no supplies and overloaded with refugees they make for the nearest Corporate system, hoping for aid and bringing a dire warning: The Consumers are here. Nothing is stopping them.
But even in the midst of a cataclysm, greed shines through. Sabotage, backroom deals and betrayal undermines everything, piling emergencies on top of a situation already out of control. And even as they find safety planetside the worst has already happened: The infestation has arrived, and it is growing.
