It's early June,1985, and William Snow is living at a marina in an engineless tugboat with his malformed dog, Bradley. William wants something he hasn't had since walking away from the horror of the Sarah Sweeney case. He wants peace, and he intends to get it, by leaving the business of locating missing children to someone else. Snow plans to relax, watch some football, and read some books. He may even go to the beach and get a tan.
Then the phone rings, and his plans evaporate. The caller is precocious nine-year-old Amber-Lee Alvarado. She calls Snow "The Finding Man" and asks him a simple question. Will he help find her daddy? Snow is so moved by the child's plight, he agrees, not knowing that to do so will set off a chain of events that will enrage a psychopath and unleash hired killers intent on murdering the girl's whole family. When Snow attempts to reverse the deadly chain that he initiated, he will become now and forever known as The Finding Man.
