The storyline is based around an extended family. The father, Conan Richards, is a retired detective inspector and the mother, Ruby Richards (formerly Pendar) was once a police constable before she married. They have three children: Jaz, Macy and Finn. The family move from London, back to the mother's home county of Cornwall, in a village on the Lizard peninsula, where they link up with other family members. These include Ruby's father, Max Pendar, and her cousin, Jessie Pendar. Her two children, Summer and Spike, become close with Jaz, Macy and Finn. Mysterious deaths occur shortly after the move and the family becomes involved in the investigation. Somehow, local legends around witches and a mysterious standing stone are involved.
