The Rime of Arthur

This epic poem retells the complete life of King Arthur in a sweeping cycle of nearly 2000 verses, drawing together the grandeur, tragedy, and enduring mystery of Britain's greatest legend.
Written in the spirit of the ancient bards, its rhythmic narrative is intended to be spoken aloud- its cadence echoing the beat of a drum around a fire, carrying listeners through battles, prophesies, betrayals, and moments of profound human tenderness.

From Arthur's miraculous rise and the forging of Camelot to the final sorrow of its fall, The Rime of Arthur follows not only the mythical King but also the remarkable men and women whose lives shaped his destiny.
Dedicated chapters explore the courage and loyalty of Gawain; the tragic love and heroism of Tristan, the celebrated yet deeply flawed Lancelot, whose legendary status is sustained as much by his own bards as by his deeds, and whose insatiable appetites hasten Camelot's undoing; the cursed fate of Balin; the wisdom and enigmatic designs of Merlin, the spiritual purity of Galahad; the ambition and bitterness of Modred; and Queen Guinevere, a woman torn between crown and desire, whose choices carry both passion and devastating consequence.

Blending familiar episodes with fresh emotional insight and bold reinterpretations of legendary figures, the poem presents Arthurian legend as both heroic saga and deeply human drama. Themes of honour, sacrifice, destiny, faith, loyalty, love, frailty and the inevitable passing of great kingdoms are woven throughout, culminating in the timeless image of Arthur's departure for Avalon.

Rather than seeking strict formal perfection, the work embraces the living tradition of oral storytelling, where vivid imagery, musical rhythm and emotional power carry the listener from one verse to the next.
it is an epic meant to be heard as much as read- a modern bard's song celebrating one of the world's greatest legendary cycles while daring to question the heroes that history have chosen to exalt.
