Paris, December 23rd. Beneath a sky of soot and snow, the City of Light breathes to the rhythm of pistons and boilers. In the home of engineer Auguste Duchaîne, the mechanical symphony comes to a brutal halt when a toxic green vapor creeps under the doors. In an instant, the family's Christmas is turned upside down: red-eyed scrap-metal creatures ransack the house, taking with them much more than just presents.

Olympe, the sharp-minded analyst, and Hippolyte, the impulsive boy with a heart of gears, launch into a desperate hunt through the bowels of the capital. Their adversary? Grendall, an artificial intelligence of pure logic who sees human emotion as nothing more than a bug to be erased.
