The Thaws Promise

Keep the house warm. Keep the dead asleep.

After her mother's funeral, Clara returns to her childhood home in northern Minnesota and finds every window sealed, the thermostat padlocked, and her father terrified of letting the temperature fall.

The house must stay at eighty-two degrees. His only explanation: the heat keeps something out.

Clara sees a sick man trapped in grief and rituals she can't understand. Convinced the suffocating heat is hurting him, she shuts off the furnace.

That night, small, wet footprints appear between her closet and her bed.

Then her dead sister starts whispering.

The voice knows Clara's childhood nickname. It remembers secrets only the two sisters shared. And it tells a story about its death that makes Clara question everything her parents taught her to believe.

As her father's condition worsens, the voice offers a promise: open a window, and it can save him.

Clara must choose between the father who refuses to explain his terror and the sister she thought she had lost forever. But inside a house built around silence, even the most familiar voice may be hiding something.

The Thaw's Promise is a supernatural horror story of buried family secrets, impossible cold, and the desperate hope of hearing a loved one speak again.
