Le pastoralisme est une stratégie de production et d'existence qui repose sur un élevage mobile du bétail. D'importantes communautés vivent de ce systčme de production, particuličrement adapté ŕ la valorisation des zones arides ou semi-arides. Au Sénégal, et plus particuličrement au Ferlo (Sahel sénégalais), la durabilité de l'élevage pastoral repose également sur la diversité et la flexibilité des régimes de mobilité. Pourtant, depuis l'indépendance en 1960, le gouvernement sénégalais a multiplié les initiatives (de lois, de plans, de projets de développement) pour tenter de sédentariser les éleveurs, et aller vers une intensification de son systčme d'élevage. Dans un contexte de réforme foncičre au Sénégal, cette étude s'est intéressée aux éleveurs peuls du Ferlo, qui n'ont pour le moment pas été inclus dans les débats officiels, orientant les futurs choix de politique foncičre qui seront faits. Le but de cette étude était d'identifier les réseaux sociaux - liés au foncier - évoluant au sein des acteurs du Ferlo, en fonction de la diversité des liens existants, et de proposer, en conséquence, une typologie de ces réseaux et des acteurs les mobilisant.
