Using R with Multivariate Statistics: A Primer was designed as a supplement to a more comprehensive text on Multivariate statistics. The author, Randall E. Schumacker, wanted to provide a guide to using the access free software R when conducting multivariate statistical analysis. R code is provided for some of the data set examples used in a wide range of texts that are published as comprehensive texts in Multivariate Statistics. The goal is an applied guide that students can run the examples in R and compare results in the books that used SAS, SPSS or STATA statistics packges. The R commands can be saved in a script file for future use, readily shared, and provide the user control over the analytic steps and algorithms used. There are many advantages to using R, one being that it is free software, the ability to customize statistical analysis, and is available on Windows, Mac, and Linus operating systems.
