Words and Numbers

Michael Davidson is ready to begin middle school. Michael brings his fascination about words and numbers with him to middle school. Middle school will give Michael many ways to learn more about words, numbers, and himself.

Readers of Words and Numbers will journey with Michael through middle school. Experiences will include classes Michael takes, a big project he does for Math class, articles he writes for the school newspaper, a reading contest he enters, a basketball shooting competition he participates in, strengthening friendships, learning five rules to live by, work he does as a basketball team statistician, deciding what to do with a very unexpected opportunity, learning much about himself, and being a speaker at his eighth grade graduation program. These are some of the important steps Michael takes during his journey through the middle school years.

Readers will meet Michael's family - parents, Tom and Cathy; brother, Matt; sister, Megan. Family discussions at the supper table will enable the reader to get to know the Davidson family well and to see that the Davidson family members are devoted to each other.

Michael regularly joins with some of his best friends for lunch at school. The reader will get to listen to conversations this group shares.
