This book examines the relationships that women-who have long been confined-maintain with indoor and outdoor spaces, as well as the representations they construct of these spaces. It draws on Assia Djebar's *Quatuor*, which blends history, fiction, and personal narrative. This study is part of a broader reflection on the dichotomy of space in Algeria within a very specific historical and spatial context: the colonial era, marked by the separation of social spaces and a rigid organization of places, and the postcolonial period, marked both by a spatial configuration inherited from the past and a gradual transformation of relationships to space. This book aims to understand the complexity of women's relationships with space and to examine how enclosed and open spaces shape women's behaviors, perceptions, and modes of expression.
