Xilihulu the Little Pig

This book is brought to life by two pioneers of Chinese children's literature: Sun Youjun, the first Chinese writer ever to be nominated for the Hans Christian Andersen Award for writing, and Qiu Zhaoming, the first Chinese illustrator ever to be nominated for the same prize in illustration.

Xilihulu is a true legend of Chinese children's literature - a little pig famous for the happy, slurping sound he makes whenever he tucks into a meal. That's how he got his name, and it suits him perfectly.

Xilihulu never set out to be a hero-it just sort of happened.

One day, he sees Big Gorilla Number Two bullying Uncle Goat. Xilihulu speaks up: "Stop that! If you don't, I'll call my master!" The gorilla isn't impressed-he kicks Xilihulu halfway across the forest. The little pig lands with a thump right in Old Brown Bear's yard. The bear is furious: who has kicked a lump like a winter melon into his home? He stomps outside and finds the gorilla still boasting that he can kick anyone he wants. Old Brown Bear gives the gorilla a proper thrashing. But just as he's about to go too far, Xilihulu speaks up again: "Please don't kill him! That would only bring trouble." Old Brown Bear listens, and lets the gorilla go.

The gorilla, amazed, thinks to himself: "That little pig must be Old Brown Bear's master!" So he starts calling Xilihulu "Hero." Soon, everyone in the forest hears about the brave little pig. When Mrs. Hen's coop is haunted, she begs Xilihulu to come and get rid of the ghost. There's just one problem: Xilihulu is absolutely terrified of ghosts. But he's a hero now-and a hero has to do what a hero must.

唏哩呼噜是中国儿童文学史上一只著名的小猪。因为他吃东西的时候，总是"唏哩呼噜、唏哩呼噜"一片响，所以就叫了这个名字。

本书记述了小猪看到猩猩老二欺负山羊伯伯，就去制止，说再打人就去找师傅来治他，却被猩猩老二一脚踢飞。小猪被踢到老棕熊家，老棕熊很生气，不知是谁把像个冬瓜一样的东西踢到他家，就出去找，正赶上猩猩老二说谁不听话他就把谁踢飞。老棕熊收拾猩猩老二时，小猪上去劝，不要把猩猩老二打死，会有麻烦的。老棕熊觉得小猪的话有理，就听了他的劝。猩猩老二以为小猪是老棕熊的师傅呢，所以尊称小猪为大侠。大侠一旦出名，鸡太太宅里闹鬼，就请他去捉鬼，其实小猪也很怕啊，可是他已经是大侠了。
