A Czech crime novel that begins in 1987 with 12-year-old Hana. One holiday, she witnesses a horrific murder in a riverside house. The police quickly apprehend the perpetrator, but Hana insists that the killer she saw was actually a strange green ghost, and her testimony is not taken seriously. Twenty-five years later, the case file resurfaces, studied by Detective Maria Verova, who, still traumatized by the ordeal, examines it. Verova uncovers entirely different facts, discovering that the detectives made several mistakes and that there are many suspects. The case is reopened against the wishes of those who wanted it closed. The question of who the real culprit was in this crime, which remained unsolved for a quarter of a century, is once again being asked.
