Citizenship is a crucial issue in Egyptian society today, its importance heightened by the rapid changes sweeping the world across various aspects of life-political, cultural, economic, and social. Theoretically, citizenship is embodied in a set of constitutional and legal rules that define the political system, its underlying principles, and the rights and responsibilities of its members. It also outlines how citizens exercise their citizenship and participate in shaping public policy. Therefore, the book's central theme revolves around its view of modern media, particularly the internet, as a public sphere that provides diverse platforms for individuals and groups to participate in presenting and discussing numerous events and issues. These are disseminated through news websites and newspapers, which offer a media discourse that reflects the broader context of society, is inseparable from it, and is influenced by all social, political, cultural, and economic transformations. This prompted an examination and analysis of how news websites address the discourse of citizenship and its impact on Egyptian youth, particularly university students, given their interaction with and engagement with online news sites. The analysis focused on the discourse surrounding citizenship and its values ??as published on these websites, aiming to determine whether this knowledge motivates them to exercise their rights and responsibilities and participate positively in society. It also sought to understand the extent to which online discourse influences youth attitudes towards citizenship. This study covered the period from the beginning of 2010 to the end of 2011, a period marked by the growing importance of citizenship and unprecedented societal transformations in Egypt. This period witnessed the end of a three-decade-long era in Egypt's political history (1981-2010) and the beginning of a new phase in 2011.
