crisis of American hegemony

This book attempts to shed light on the phenomenon of "e;American hegemony,"e; beginning by drawing readers' attention to the fact that the debate surrounding this hegemony-though it began in the mid-20th century, specifically after the Suez Crisis of 1956, became more prevalent following the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1990, and was renewed after the events of September 11, 2001, within new contexts-does not necessarily mean that American hegemony is a recent phenomenon. Rather, it is deeply rooted in the American political mindset since the very founding of the American state in the 17th century. After reviewing the various foundations and pillars of American hegemony, the book examines whether or not it has entered a crisis phase by highlighting the challenges that hinder its growth and impede its continuation. It also explains the international and American debate concerning the future of this hegemony in light of the strenuous efforts and numerous attempts undertaken by American circles in the hope of overcoming these challenges and restoring and renewing American hegemony in a way that prolongs its existence as much as possible.
