Eyo

Born in Nigeria, Eyo is sent to England at ten years old for what she is told is an opportunity. Instead, she enters a world that exists in plain sight.Over the years, she moves through houses and strangers, through adults who enrich themselves at her expense. She becomes, invisible, expendable, but never free.As circumstances shift, Eyo begins to understand that belonging is not guaranteed, that survival leaves its mark, and that sometimes the only choices available are the ones that cost you everything.Nominated for the Commonwealth Writers' Prize and praised by readers for its emotional power, Eyo is a haunting novel about the quiet devastation of a childhood shaped by other people's needs, and what it means to survive when you are not protected. Eyo was nominated for the Commonwealth Writers' Prize. PRAISE FOR EYO... outstanding... - Judging panel, Commonwealth Writers' Prize
