Lost Arab rights

The concept of "e;human rights"e; has become widely used in modern political literature and contemporary political discourse in general. However, many writings that have employed this concept have neglected its origins, and its widespread use has led to its application without scrutiny, as if there were no room for review. Therefore, it is important to examine the concept in its Western origins and compare it with the status of human beings and their rights/duties in Islam. The concept of human rights has gained acceptance at both the academic and international political levels. Many Arabic publications have attempted to give the concept an Islamic character, resulting in writings that discuss "e;human rights in Islam."e; Indeed, one international Islamic conference issued a "e;Universal Declaration of Human Rights in Islam,"e; which retained the same terminology as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights issued by the United Nations, while attempting to demonstrate its compatibility with Islam by presenting legal evidence that supports these rights. This ultimately makes the Western framework of the concept the point of reference.
