Postmodernism does not appear to be able to survive this dilemma of modernity. Postmodern consciousness is characterized by a wariness of "e;meta-narratives,"e; particularly those shaped by history. In doing so, it revives Baudelaire's conception of modernity, which he contrasts with the modernist myths of his time, the glorification of progress, and the blind faith in the reason of history. Postmodernism renews the inaugural movement of Baudelairean "e;modernity,"e; a movement through which creators engage with this radical transformation in all aspects of life that we call the modern world. Baudelaire counters the scientific and industrial modernity of his era with his theory of cultural modernity. In doing so, he rejects the self-generating authority of anything "e;modern,"e; as well as the very idea of ??modernity. We then understand that "e;Baudelairean modernity"e; is not a glorification of the achievements of contemporary humanity, but rather a project of salvation, expressed, if not as a will to return, then at least as a desire to tame the demons unleashed by the creative mind of modern man.
