Walking the Narrow Road

Jesus said: "e;Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life and only a few find it"e; (Matthew 7:13-14).The Lord is saying to all who will listen, in this life's journey, there are two roads open to you: the narrow road of life and the broad road of destruction. A small, not easily visible gate leads on to the narrow road, while a wide gate that anyone can see enters the broad road. So while many enter the wide gate that will only lead to their destruction, only a few people find the small gate that can take them to eternal life.How true! Amid the hundreds of religions, scores of philosophies, and all the media of communications besieging our modern times, isn't it very easy to drift away from God and His truth and get lost with the crowds? Hence, Jesus commands that we enter through the narrow gate that only very few will enter. Yet, it is only this narrow road that can lead us to eternal life. And who gives eternal life? Is it not Jesus Christ? He said in John 10:28: "e;I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand"e; (see also Acts 13:48). No religious leader ever claimed to be the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Nor has any said with confidence that He is the only way to God (John 14:6). Nor has any said that he is the only door by which all humankind can go in and out and find pasture! (John 10:1, 9). Neither did any of them claim to be God or was declared God-Incarnate by any follower--only Jesus (see John 1:1, 14). Other religious leaders were known to be sinners just like all the humans they were leading and still are leading. Glory be to God!There is a lot more to say about Jesus Christ. At His death on the cross, the curtain in the temple that separated the Holy place from the Holy of Holies tore from top to bottom. This symbolized how his death opened for us direct access to God, the Father. No longer do we need a High Priest to go into the Holy of Holies to offer the blood of calves and goats that can only cover sins for a year. Jesus's blood shed once for all took away our sin and guilt forever (Hebrews 10:11-18). He is now our Great High Priest in heaven, where He offered His blood at God's mercy seat.And the Father, pleased with His perfect work done for us, accepted His sacrifice. This is because He had satisfied the wrath of God that should have fallen upon us because of our rebellion. John the Baptist saw it all in the realm of the Spirit hence he could introduce the Lord as, "e;the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world."e; Therefore, every word that comes out of the mouth of our Savior, Redeemer, and Great High Priest must be law to us, who belong to Him and live by His Word. We must walk the narrow road and bring as many along as possible.This book is predicated upon many thoughts and meditations regarding walking this narrow road. It consists of over two hundred meditations and prayers, each of which will nourish your soul and make you grow deeper in love with God and with His Son, Jesus Christ. You will appreciate the more how much God loves you. But if you have not yet got on the narrow road, enter through the gate who is Jesus Christ today. He has promised His own: "e;I will never leave you nor forsake you."e; And God the Holy Spirit, Teacher of teachers and Great Counselor, will be present, showing you the things that are yours in Christ!
