Meryl Streep, Julianne Moore and Nicole Kidman star in this drama based on Michael Cunningham's novel. The film follows a day in the life of three women from different generation who are linked by Virginia Woolf's novel 'Mrs. Dalloway'. As she finishes writing the novel in 1923, Woolf (Kidman) struggles with depression. In 1951, dissatisfied pregnant housewife Laura Brown (Moore) reads the novel in her Los Angeles home, while in the present day Clarissa Vaughan (Streep) prepares to host a party for an ailing friend and former lover. The cast also includes Ed Harris, Toni Collette and John C. Reilly.
